Nivedita Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. was founded by Late Dr. Vasant Palkar, a visionary scientist and entrepreneur whose brilliant ideas and relentless efforts laid the foundation for the company’s success. The company owes its existence to his dedication to scientific innovation and his passion for self-reliance in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Dr. Vasant Palkar held a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT), Mumbai, now known as the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT). He was also a recipient of prestigious U.S. Government Fellowships, and served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate for 3.5 years at three renowned universities in the United States—University of Rhode Island (Kingston), University of Minnesota (St. Paul), and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Driven by a dream to establish an indigenous manufacturing base for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), Dr. Palkar achieved a major milestone in 1971, when he developed Vitamin B2 5-Phosphate Sodium—an API that was, until then, being imported into India from developed countries such as Switzerland. This significant achievement earned him the Republic Day National Award for Import Substitution, presented by the President of India—a rare honor and a testament to his contribution to the nation’s self-sufficiency in healthcare.
